How I Put Together a Cozy Fall Gift Basket for my sister

I am visiting my sister in New York for three weeks (October 1 - 18th), and decided to put together a gift basket/fall care package to take with me

Of course someone like Rajiv Surendra would have made almost everything from scratch and I look forward to one day being the person making extraordinary care packages with homemade candles, bookmarks, chocolates, but alas everything in this package was purchased (with love:)

First up were the socks. I think socks are imperative especially as the weather gets colder. I will forever be gifting socks!

I ordered some products from As Ever and it felt right to add the tea to the basket. My sister loves hibiscus!

This time of year we tend to spend more time indoors with the windows closed. Beeswax candles are great for puriying the air (they release negative ions that can help neutralize airborne pollutants like dust and pollen) and have a light scent. My sister has allergies so this felt right to include.

My sister is vegan (diet wise). Her favorite chocolate is the Hu cashew one. I, not realizing Hu started making chocolate with milk, bought her the wrong bar. I didn’t look closely, just saw the word ‘cashew’ (the vegan cashew butter one is her favorite) and grabbled it. Don’t worry, I went to Whole Foods the day after I arrived (when she pointed out it was not plant based) and got her the vegan one :)

I also got this soap from an organic market because it is gentle and hydrating. This season hands can get especially dry and a less stripping hand soap seemed like a good idea.

On the topic of soap, I included this pacha bar soap that matched the colors of the basket.

I also ordered myself primarily pure body butter (I lovvve it) and decided to get another for my sister as well.

I also put a notebook and a bookmark as well as some twigs from home, “for a little piece of home”.

I really enjoyed putting this together—from choosing what to include to arranging everything in the basket. Maybe next time I do this, I will make the candles and the bookmark and the chocolate from scratch!

Thanks as always for being here 🌸
