An afternoon in Brooklyn- apothecary (anima mundi), record store, Japanese art and food

This is a continuation of my New York diaries. Find part one here :)

This was the last day of my vacation— I work from home and can work from anywhere within the states so luckily I could stay in New York longer than if circumstances were different— so I wanted to savor it.

12:30 I walked to the ferry that would take me to Brooklyn. It was a pretty decent wait but I didn’t mind.

1:30pm my first stop was Anima Mundi, of course. One of my go to brands for all things herbs and apothecary needs. I want to say I’ve been buying from them since the very beginning. They’ve featured heavily in my food blogs, re: like in my rose-matcha latte recipe and moon juice sex dust rose milk

I read Emily Henry’s Great Big Beautiful Life and had a butterfly pea drink

2:30 Then I walked over to 50 Norman in Greenpoint

I’ve written before about my love for pottery and how I tend to treat pottery shops like art galleries. I browsed the artwork they had there, bought a pen I was very excited about (that ended up not working), then got some food.

Discovered a brand I want to remember. They have an air purifier I will be budgeting for.

3:00pm

By this point I was starving. I think I’d only had a brownie from anima mundi that day. Needless to say, I was very happy when I got my food. (From Dashi Okume.)

I was quite amused when I saw they had a place for my bag! Everywhere should do this!

4:05pm

Went exploring and stumbled into a record shop. This is Brooklyn Record Exchange

I spent a lot of time in Brooklyn when I lived in New York and it is so different now. Walking in places I frequented and nothing looking familiar reminded me that there was a lot of construction going on the time I was there.

I walked for a while letting my feet take me where they willed. I walked through a park, ended up in Williamsburg, looked at the stores there then took the ferry ⛴️ back to Manhattan. I might have stayed longer but I had vocal lessons.

Side note: one of my favorite things to do is take in-person classes where I meet new people. Highly recommend Broadway Rise for their drop in musical theatre classes.

I thought I would make it back to Brooklyn during this trip but never did. I’m still dreaming about the meal I had at Dashi Okume. So good!

One of two more NYC blogs to come.

thank you for being here🩷
